Job Description:
Evaluate and monitor the patient’s progress.
Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition.
Deliver regular updates to doctors, patients, and their family members.
Begin treatment and monitor doses.
If necessary, respond to a medical emergency and alert the appropriate doctors.
Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in the ICU unit.
Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient.
Maintain patient records.
Create and implement effective care plans.

Duties:
The medical-surgical nurse be able to assess patient conditions, administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, interpret cardiac rhythm strips, keep records and provide patients with support and education.
Patient care employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups–must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s needs in relation to age and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.

Skills:
Performs, interprets, and completes assessment/reassessment per policy, develops, implements, and revises patient specific plan of care.
Demonstrates implementation and staff adherence to NPSGs as appropriate.
Completes documentation, objectively, accurately, and timely.
Demonstrates ability to identify critical events/near misses and takes appropriate action.
Responsible for 80% review of all staff meeting information by attending staff meetings or reviewing staff meeting minutes.
Provides an environment conducive to safety and security.
Implements appropriate precautions/measures.
Responds to emergency codes.
Demonstrates appropriate use of equipment and devices pertinent to the care and safety of the patient.
Upholds the basic rights of privacy and seeks to preserve dignity/Independence of expression of all patient and families.
Provides appropriate assessment and management of pain.
Demonstrates competence in applying restraints and use of team-centered approach in the management of patients to avoid/limit the use of seclusion and restraints.
Adheres to all policies related to seclusion and restraints.
Maintains fall precautions for patients at risk.
Demonstrates recognition and implementation of CORE measures as appropriate.
Maintains suicide precautions following policy.
Administers medications/IV’s safely according to hospital P&P.
Follows the Behavioral Standards.

Position Details:
Minimum Experience: 2 years acute care hospital or related experience, preferred.
License/Certifications: Current CA RN License.
Current BCLS and ACLS upon hire and thereafter.
ABM/MAB/CPI within 60 days of hire, annual thereafter.
Must have the ability to meet essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
MAB / CPI – required by (ED/Trauma/ICU/Burn ICU/MEDSURG/TELE/CHS/BEHAVIORAL HEALTH)
ACLS – required by (ED/Trauma/ICU/Burn ICU/ PACU/Tele DOU/GI LAB/LABOR&DELIVEY/MOTHER BABY/NDOU/MedSurg/CATH LAB)
PALS / NIHSS – required by (Burn/PICU/ED/Trauma)
STROKE Cert – required by (ED/ICU/Tele DOU/NDOU/MedSurg/CHS)
(MedSurg) = Stroke Cert
(Tele, Tele/DOU - RN require) = ACLS, Stroke Cert.COVID VAX required.
FLU Shot required
