Job Description


Job Summary:
• Coordinate all aspects of medical staff and allied health credentialing, including onboarding, reappointments, and resignations
• Maintain physician and allied health privilege lists and manage the physician database
• Serve as lead support for Credentials Committee and Interdisciplinary Practice Committee
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards including JCAHO
• Support medical staff departments and credentialing functions with administrative and regulatory accuracy

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate credentialing and onboarding for new applicants, reappointments, temporary privileges, and resignations
• Act as super-user and trainer for the physician credentialing database; design report filters and generate reports
• Prepare and coordinate meetings: Credentials Committee, Interdisciplinary Practice Committee, and quarterly department meetings
• Compile and prepare monthly hospital board reports
• Maintain and update all medical staff and allied health professional privilege lists
• Monitor and follow up on proctoring activities and delinquencies
• Keep credentialing files organized, complete, and survey-ready
• Secure all required documents for credentialing and follow up on any outstanding items
• Obtain QA data for credentialing purposes from appropriate hospital departments
• Maintain current knowledge of JCAHO credentialing and privileging standards

Required Qualifications:
• Prior experience in credentialing and privileging
• Experience with writing meeting summaries and transcribing meeting minutes
• Experience managing a credentialing database

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience with medical terminology
• Prior experience working in a hospital or health system credentialing office

Certifications:
• CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) – Preferred but not required

Skills and Abilities:
• Strong attention to detail with ability to manage large volumes of paperwork accurately
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple files simultaneously
• Willingness to stay current on regulatory and accreditation changes
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to effectively use credentialing software and related tools
